Get HYPE: Helping Young People Excel
This Seminar will explore how providers can become leaders that youth want to follow. The workshop will show how effective leadership can help reduce negative risk taking, disciplinary problems and enhance academic achievement. Providers will learn knowledge and skills that will allow them to lead with influence rather than authority to help young people realize their potential to excel

Up from Here: Understanding the Impact of Poverty
This workshop will explore the relationship between generational and situational poverty and the effects on choices and decision-making. Through data exploration and skilled-based activities, participants will explore that attitudes and beliefs of individuals who live in poverty. Participants will be introduced to strategies that can be implemented to assist individuals in overcoming the obstacles that poverty can create. Objectives:

Helping Teens Make Proud Choices
Perhaps the only situation more difficult than being a teen, is being an adult attempting to help teens make good decisions. Kwain will take workshop participants through cooperative learning exercises that will examine current research on how the adolescent brain functions as a context for negative risk-taking and effective decision making. Kwain will model activities participants can use to assist the teens they serve become STAR decision makers and avoid risky situations.

Developing Servant Leadership in Adolescents and Teens
This session will provide members from the faith community with specific strategies to increase youth involvement and cultivate youth leadership. The presenter will demonstrate how servant leadership can empower teens to contribute to their communities and to begin a life long journey of leadership and service.

Hip Hop Culture: A Bridge for Connecting with Urban Youth
Although Hip Hop has been in existence for over 30 years, it continues to be a fast-growing, fast-paced popular culture that has permeated the conscience of today’s youth especially young urban youth. This workshop will examine the risks associated with the current Hip Hop culture and explore ways provider can use the culture to connect with urban youth. Providers will gain knowledge and skills to assist with positive behavioral change by helping youth use the jargon and rhyming lyrics to express their emotions, challenges and dreams

Title: It’s Your Life: Think Big, Act Bigger and Live Better
This motivating presentation will encourage young people to become the architects of their lives. Kwain will share key strategies that will assist teens with turning their dreams into reality. He will also demonstrate how negative risk-taking behavior such as violence, substance use and abuse can prevent youth from maximizing their full potential.

This high energy session is designed to help teens get excited about their future. Kwain will take teens on an educational journey that will inspire teens to look toward their future with great anticipation. He will provide them with winning life strategies that they can implement on a daily basis.

Title: From Use to Abuse: The Sobering Facts about Alcohol, Tobacco and Drugs
This interactive session will empower teens to make proud and responsible choices that will reduce their risk of substance use or abuse. Mr. Bryant will engage students in a number of cooperative learning and skill building activities that will enhance their knowledge and ability to make life saving decisions about alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.

:: Demonstrate skill that will assist teens in responding to negative peer pressure to use drugs
Title: The Secret of Your Success: College and Career Planning
This thought-provoking and engaging workshop will educate participants about getting into college, the process, and practical tips to use in doing so. It will also use the True Colors method and Career Builders tool to help determine and explore careers based on personality types. The workshop will review various types of job applications; give an overview on resume tips, wrapping up with dialogue and questions and answers about college access and planning viable careers/job seeking skills for the participants
Objectives:
:: Participants will learn what they need to do to get started in the College Access process.
:: Participants will discover who they are and what their strengths are through the True Colors method and apply what they have learned in the session to various types of careers.
:: Participants will learn how to make the best college and career choices for themselves through exercises, practical tips and resources, and dialogue/interactive discussion.
Title: Males and Females: The game of Love
This interactive workshop will encourage and inspire participants to feel confident and proud of them for who they are without compromising their morals and virtue to be accepted by others. Participants will discuss the importance of being involved in healthy relationships with opposite sex friends, same sex friends, parents, and other adults.
Objectives:
:: Male and Female adolescents will exchange and share their personal views and ideas on matters as they relate to healthy and unhealthy relationships.
:: Participants will learn how to identify the warning signs of unhealthy relationships and how to avoid them.
:: Participants, through role play will discover positive ways to approach individuals that they may be attracted to and or how to accept or handle someone’s advances towards them.
